aftercare routine

Retention is half application, half aftercare. Two clients with identical sets can come back looking two weeks apart — the difference is always the routine.

01

The first 24 hours

Hour 0–2
Leave the studio, do nothing
The adhesive starts curing. No touching, no checking in the mirror every five minutes (we know).
Hour 2–12
Keep them dry
No shower steam, no saunas, no hot yoga. Splash-proof, not swim-proof yet.
Hour 12–24
Sleep smart
Back-sleeping tonight. From tomorrow a silk pillowcase does the work for you.
Hour 24+
Live normally
Swim, sweat, wash. The set is fully cured and water is completely fine.
02

Do and do not

Do

  • Cleanse every other day with oil-free foam
  • Brush up gently each morning
  • Sleep on your back or on silk
  • Refill every 2–4 weeks

Do not

  • Use oil-based skincare near the eyes
  • Rub, pick or pull — ever
  • Use waterproof mascara on extensions
  • Wait past week five for a refill
03

The weekly routine

Oil is the enemy of lash glue. Check your cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen for oils that migrate. Clean lashes actually retain better than untouched ones — dirty lash lines shed early.

“Face-down sleepers lose lashes on the pillow, not in the shower.”
04

What kills retention

Three things end a set early, and they all live in your bathroom. Oil is the first. Any cleanser, remover or moisturizer with oil in it loosens the adhesive a little more each day. Read the label; keep oily products below the cheekbones.

Waterproof mascara is the second. It's built to resist removal, so taking it off means scrubbing, and scrubbing pulls lashes out. The extensions are your mascara now — you don't need both.

Cotton pads are the quiet third. They snag and leave fuzz across the lash line. Use foam and your fingertips, or a soft spoolie — never a torn-up round.

05

The refill rhythm

A set doesn't drop all at once. You shed a few lashes a day and each one takes its extension with it. When gaps show, that's a refill, not a redo — and when you come back depends on your style.

Classic and Volume refills are $90 and $110, both booked 2–3.5 weeks after your set. Russian Volume is $125 at 2–4 weeks. Hybrid is $100 and comes soonest, 2–3 weeks.

Past four weeks, book a Full Set instead. There isn't enough left to fill — the artist would spend the time rebuilding, which is a new set anyway. Four weeks is the line, not week five.

06

Sleep, sweat & water

Sleep is where most lashes die. Face-down is eight hours of the pillow bending one side flat. Sleep on your back if you can, on a silk or satin pillowcase — it slides instead of gripping.

Showering is fine after the first 24 hours. Keep your face out of the direct stream, let warm water run over the lashes, and pat dry. Steam rooms and saunas are the harsher version — they loosen adhesive faster.

Workouts and swimming are fine once the set has cured, but sweat is salty and chlorine is drying. Rinse with cool water afterward, cleanse that evening, and brush the lashes back into place.

07

Make it a habit

None of this is much work once it's habit. Every other day, cleanse the lash line with oil-free foam and lukewarm water, then let them air-dry. Every morning, brush them up with a clean spoolie — thirty seconds.

Keep oils, waterproof mascara and cotton pads out of it. Sleep on your back on silk. Rinse after a workout or a swim. That's the whole routine.

Then book your refill on the interval for your style. Retention isn't luck — it's the boring stuff, done most days.

Quick answers

Common questions

How long do I keep the lashes dry?
Twenty-four hours. Keep the set dry while the adhesive cures — no water, steam or sweat on it the first day. After that, showers, swims and workouts are all fine; just avoid a direct stream on your face.
When should I book my refill?
It depends on the style: Classic and Volume at 2–3.5 weeks, Russian Volume at 2–4, Hybrid at 2–3. Past four weeks there's too little left to fill, so book a Full Set instead.
Can I wear mascara over extensions?
Skip it — and skip waterproof mascara entirely. Removing it means scrubbing, and scrubbing pulls lashes out. The extensions already do that job on their own.
Why do my lashes thin out on one side?
Almost always sleep. Face-down bends the lashes against the pillow all night on one side. Switch to back-sleeping on a silk pillowcase and the two sides even back out.
